Amiga IFFs are lossless. The compression is run-length encoded, which
just means it find similar bits in a file and, instead of storing (ie)
"11111111111111111111", it just stores something like "20 1s".
Anyway, IFFs aren't lossly. Until HQ-8 is possible, Flyer Clips ARE
lossy. Thing is that for S-VHS or so, Standard mode has no apparent loss
(but I still use HQ-5 anyway). For Betacam, HQ-5 is recommend (so I hear
-- I don't go that high).
I don't know what you mean by "generation". I assume that you mean going
to tape, but I don't see how that fits here...
